I consider this a bane of the Internets ever since I got online in the 20th century. People changing their nick, handles and logins. With over 300 people in my contact list (MSN, AIM, Yahoo and ICQ), how am I supposed to remember that Mr. “Now alone, my blood falls upon bleeding eyes. This is hell.” is the same person as “Darth Maul 2099″ I talked to last month? I can usualy avoid this because in Trillian, the handle the person used to first contact you always stays the same, even if he or she changes it. But now I’m stuck in MSN for a while… :-p
Pick a nickname and keep it.

Yeah, that is pretty annoying. I don't encounter it too much because I really trimmed down on my messenger list. The same thing happens on myspace too, but I'm not on there much anymore so it's no big deal.

By the way, why are you stuck in MSN? If you're having trouble with your Trillian installation, you can try using a browser based messenger like meebo instead. It works just like Trillian, unless they added features since I last used it…

I add my own nicknames onto my MSN contacts so "Uni Jim" will always show up as "Uni Jim" even if he decides he wants his nickname to be "Busty Blonde From Tomorrow".

I'm not on my computer, so I gotta use MSN. No big deal, but I never understood why people can't pick a name and stick with it. Of course it helps if you chose something else than Pikachu8778378.

That's what private messages are for. I keep my username the same (though in part for reasons other than clarity), and change my private message all the time.

I never understood why people couldn't come up with more creative names either. That issue aside, there are people that will continually change their handle because they think everyone wants to know what they're doing and how they're feeling every moment of every day.
