It is however incredibly fucking stupid. Stupid police. Stupid media.
Tulsa Police originially told FOX23 News the man in Pedobear costume at San Diego’s Comic Con conference who was questioned by police was a registered sex offender.
What could probably be wrong about this statement?
Today, Tulsa Police tell FOX23 News, they made a mistake and the man in the costume is not a registered sex offender.

You know what still boggles my mind? Not that Fox still lies. It’s that people still contact them.
Anyway, I wonder how long it took the cops to stop calling this guy a pedophile and, you know, appologise profusely for endangering his life and causing him to be ostrasised among his family and neighbours, and likely loose his job. Seriously, just because they found out he wasn’t, doesn’t mean his boss won’t still fire him. Does this count as having a police record?

Fox is Fox no matter how you try to disguise it as a local people friendly station.
Hell you can give a redneck a bath and put him in a tux but you still end up with an uneducated and possibly inbred moron who can’t speck proper English, not a gentleman.
You can give Glen Beck absolute proof that he is a lying idiot with a mental disorder but that doesn’t mean he will stop raising the bar on stupidity.

I’m not saying they’re friendly because they’re local (and I hate to defend FOX), but there is a difference between FOX and FOX News. The same way 20th Century FOX is different. While FOX News works as an arm of the Republican party (or vice-versa), FOXtv’s goal is only to entertain. I think the FOX affiliate in Vermont doesn’t even have a newscast. The reason why this particular piece is bad probably has more to with the fact that it’s from Oklahoma and that anything weird happening in California is probably real scary. I’m betting the NBC, CBS and ABC local news there are just as retarded. If anything, local FOX news is probably more interested in animals attacking people than atheist Democratic Muslims attacking Jesus.

To play Devil’s Advocate: I have absolutely no pity for the guy in the Pedobear suit. If you choose to costume around as a character named Pedobear with a reputation (even one that is parody/satirical) of being a mascot of pedophiles, it’s not a matter of if, but when, you will attract negative attention.
When it comes to matters of pedophilia, one should have the common sense to know that the default mode of the mainstream media, and most people in general, is going to be hysteria and fear.

Playing the Devil’s Advocate would be to ask whether or not the guy bares some responsibility . It’s the difference between asking a legitimate question from another point of view and making a judgment call.
