re: Christine O’Donnell’s dabble in witchcraft

The latest spin from Republicans concerning Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell (R) is that she’s victim of a witch hunt. Also, she may have practiced witchcraft in the past, but at least she learned from her experience.
A Christian fundamentalist who fears witches compares herself to victims of witchcraft bullshit trials… Some people have no concept of irony.
But on a broader level, I just don’t understand why fundies fear witchcraft or any other religion for that matter. If you believe there is only one god, who cares if anyone believes in gods or powers you should believe to be non-existent. So why do they fear the occult? And lets say witches do have powers, your god is supposed to be all-powefull, so what do you have to fear? And of course, why would an all-powefull force tolerate his evil opponent? You either believe in A god or a demi-god, you can’t do both. If you want people to take your religion seriously, start by filling the plot holes.
So yeah, Christine O’Donnell was once a dumb teen who played with a dumb Weeja board and though Ann Rice was serious business. If she had grown up, she’d laugh about her dumb teenage antics. Instead, she acts like she was the juvenile deliquant of the kingdom of heaven.

I think they believe in God AND Devil. If you don’t believe in their god, you are a devil worshipper. You believe in Allah or Satan ? It’s the same to them…
Demons inhabit human bodies. It’s a christian job to fight them…”Onward christian soldiers”…Etc, etc…

Yeah the Spanish inquisition did not burn witches. They did not believe in witchcraft, you see, and dismissed it as “female humours”. They had their hands full with heretics and jews anyway.

first off im outwardly atheist and my views are of an anthropologist looking at a village(im not one just an analogy)
i did a fare amount of research into occult religions i find 98% of religions completely moronic (occult and mainstream) the only one i liked (aside from buddhism) is wicca (white magic witchcraft) (unfortunately) often confused with black magic witchcraft but its mostly due to the values that wicacans posses as for the magick (not magic) its a bit pointless because its more of worshiping the earth (people often chose a god or more often a goddess)the basic laws of wicca prevent one from harming another even to the point you must get consent from them to help them with magick there is a big naturalistic approach to medicine that doesent use magick
damn it i went on a rant sorry
any way i havent done much research into black magic but its not necessarily evil they often work with sprites and do a lot more enchanting than wiccans
back ontopic:
i completely agree with eric
