Eva’s Warsaw Pact weapons: the RPD

I’m pretty sure that’s not how you’re supposed to fire that gun and the bullet belt is usually inside a metal box. But it looks more badass that way.

Most Russian RPDs were replaced by the AK-47 and its variants like the RPK (coming up later), but it is still in use in Asia and Africa. It was the first machine gun to use the new Russian M43 bullet, smaller but lighter than the previous 7.62x54mmR used during WWII. The Soviets had found the right bullet, but the right rifle would come later, with the Kalashnikov.

See earlier: the Dragunov.

  1. It will be nice for miss dynamite products exist like action figures, books, movie, video games, games, and role play games. Sorry for off subject. I notice Russians improved and changed military weapons like US does these other countries brought but which is best weapon? You mentioned antique guns that Russians used PDGs and others. I know them which displayed at two museums are branson military museum and smithsonian. Ak-47 was worst weapon which is illegal in u.s. I have seen PDGs but not know about their weakness and strength. WWII, Vietnam War, Cold War and other wars which Russians involved (also Soviets) used these. Believe that Iran and Iraq Contra affair in 1980, they prefer US weapons.

  2. You mean RPD? The RPD was probably a good enough light machine gun for it’s time. It just got surpassed by superior weapons. I’ll probably post about the AK tomorrow. It’ll be a longer post because the AK is a big deal in the history of assault rifles.

  3. The RPD is not an open belt fed Machine gun. It actually has two belts linked and contained in a drum. Though it can accommodate and fire the standard AK 72.36mm magazine.

Its basically just a RPK(the light machine gun version of the AK) made with heavier parts to compensate for the higher fire rate and hotter temperature from prolonged fire.

Contrary to Cculber007′s post the AK is legal here in the US and depending on state all you have to do is pay from the extra 200 Tax stamp. I own an original Kalashnikova as well as several semi and full auto AK clones.

The Ak’s only draw back is that it is too light for its power. It is hands down one of the greatest assault rifles ever produced.

In the 1980 Contras affair the weapon of choice in the middle east was and still is the AK. The Weapons the US was caught selling in 1986 were in fact left over Russian weapons from the Cold war not US made weapons. This was Because that the US wasn’t supposed to be Nicaraguan Contras and so they couldn’t supply them with US made weapons like the M16.

The AK is still in wide use in the Middle East as well as the SVD and the RPK and the RPD.

  4. oh no! Having Eva hold that large gun so low… it’s controversial.

  5. That’s how I roll.
